The Lions are always looking for motivated players who want to develop their game in a challenging and fun environment. Contact Coach Mahoney (email link below) if interested. We offer an Academy-style program, designed to develop a large group of players for the purposes of fielding 2 highly-competitive NCSL teams at U-13 (the first season of full-sided, 11 v. 11 play) and a third team playing in ODSL. For this purpose, we train our teams together and move players between rosters during the U10, U11, U12 age groups, to provide all the boys with the same training opportunities and develop a broad sense of team between all the players. The Lions are led by our Academy Director, Mathew Mahoney, assisted by several other licensed Coaches and Team Managers. (See our Staff page for more info.) Coach Mahoney is a nationally-licensed coach with 20 years experience coaching youth soccer in the area. He holds the USSF National Youth License in addition to the USSF "D" License. He has previously coached NCSL travel teams in the 1986 and 1989 age groups; which included players now playing at the collegiate level. The Lions are professionally trained by Harry Opoku, the premier trainer in Northern Virginia.
